The Xiaomi 1S electric scooter is the successor to the world’s most popular electric scooter model, the Xiaomi M365, improving upon the already high-quality and durable predecessor’s technical shortcomings. The new Xiaomi Mi 1S is comfortable, lightweight, compact, capable, and durable, making it ideal for daily use. The electric scooter’s overall design is very similar to the Xiaomi M365. The most significant improvement is the addition of a support on the often problematic and vibration-prone rear mudguard, which resolves this issue.
The new Xiaomi 1S is designed with the latest EU regulations in mind, and as such, it features a license plate holder on the rear mudguard, required in some European countries for registration purposes. In addition, the Xiaomi Mi 1S has real, effective reflectors instead of just reflective stickers on the covers of the front and rear wheels. Like the Segway electric scooters, the Xiaomi 1S now also supports regenerative braking (KERS) during coasting without pressing the brake lever. The intensity of this automatic regenerative braking can be customized via the Xiaomi Mi app according to individual needs.
Besides these updates, the Xiaomi 1S model now also includes the display from the previous generation flagship, the Xiaomi M365 Pro, which allows riders to monitor speed and provides easily readable information about driving modes and potential error codes.
All this and more fits into a compact, foldable electric scooter weighing just 12.5 kg.
TECHNICAL DESCRIPTION
The Xiaomi 1S electric scooter features a strong aluminum frame and also has a compact handlebar with comfortable grips. A powerful 250W brushless (BLDC) electric motor (with a peak power of 500W) ensures brisk acceleration and quickly reaches the manufacturer’s speed of 25 km/h, even when carrying heavier loads. Depending on the riding style and the rider’s weight, it can travel approximately 20-30 km on a single charge. The electric scooter also has a cruise control feature, in addition to three electronic gears for riding alongside pedestrians, for the most economical riding, and for the fastest possible speed.
The Xiaomi Mi 1S is equipped with a rear 120mm diameter rotor mechanical disc brake, which ensures quick and safe stopping. The scooter is powered by a 36V/7650mAh (275Wh) Li-Ion battery, which takes about 5.5 hours to fully charge. For visibility during dark times and to make oneself more visible to fellow road users, the scooter has both front and rear LED lights, which are also more effective compared to the previous generation. To turn the Xiaomi 1S electric scooter on and off, simply press the button located under the display/screen briefly.
Once the scooter is turned on, pressing the button once toggles the lights on and off, and quickly pressing the button twice switches between the eco and sport modes. We always recommend wearing a helmet while riding the electric scooter. For those under 16, wearing a helmet while riding an electric scooter is legally mandatory.
