XIAOMI ELECTRIC SCOOTER 4 LITE – PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
The Xiaomi Electric Scooter 4 Lite is a new model in Xiaomi’s electric scooter lineup and a direct successor to the Mi Scooter 3 Lite and the very popular Xiaomi Essential. Like all Xiaomi electric scooters, this one also offers the best price-to-quality ratio in its class of small, compact, and affordable electric scooters. This ensures that, like its predecessors, it will become one of the world’s best-selling electric scooters in time. What’s new with the Xiaomi Electric Scooter 4 Lite compared to previous models? Not very much, but Xiaomi’s fourth generation is still much more innovative than the transition from the first to the second or from the second to the third generation.
The most noticeable external update is that compared to the previous model, the 3 Lite, the Xiaomi 4 Lite has a wider standing board, which provides a more enjoyable and comfortable ride, especially for people with larger shoe sizes. The Xiaomi 4 Lite electric scooters are available in a modest and classic Xiaomi black-red color scheme. Another improvement recognizable upon longer inspection is the use of two different types of brakes. An electric E-ABS braking system on the front wheel ensures that there is no risk of flying over the handlebars when braking, and a reliable drum brake on the rear wheel quickly stops the scooter. Thus, the previous mechanical disc brake system has been replaced with a more reliable and maintenance-free drum brake in the fourth generation. The scooter is configured so that pressing the brake lever applies both brakes, making braking much more effective and safer.
The Xiaomi Electric Scooter 4 Lite has also been equipped with a smart BMS (battery management system). It now has even more safety features for protection: under-voltage protection, double overcharging protection, overheating protection, anti-discharge function, and short-circuit protection.
XIAOMI ELECTRIC SCOOTER 4 LITE – TECHNICAL DESCRIPTION
The new Xiaomi Scooter 4 Lite is a comfortable, lightweight, highly compact, and durable electric scooter suitable for daily commuting to school or work. The Xiaomi 4 Lite electric scooters are designed and manufactured in accordance with the latest EU regulations, allowing them to be sold and used in any European Union member state. Consequently, the scooter comes equipped with a rear fender and various features that ensure safe riding.
The Xiaomi Mi Electric 4 Lite scooter is equipped with efficient reflectors on both the front and back sides. Additionally, Xiaomi electric scooters feature automatic regenerative braking (KERS) that works even when coasting – without pressing the brake lever. The intensity of the automatic motor braking can be continuously adjusted via the Xiaomi Mi app to suit individual riding styles.
The Xiaomi Electric Scooter 4 Lite is equipped with an innovative E-ABS system, which prevents the wheels from locking and skidding under electric braking, or in worse cases, stopping so abruptly that the rider could be thrown off. This is particularly useful in Nordic countries, where the scooter is often used in autumn and winter. The electric scooter weighs only 15.6 kg, making it very easy to transport. Additionally, the 4 Lite electric scooters are equipped with a very simple folding mechanism – when folded, the steering post locks onto the deck to prevent it from coming loose during transport.
XIAOMI ELECTRIC SCOOTER 4 LITE – PERFORMANCE AND RANGE
The Xiaomi electric scooter is constructed with a strong and durable aluminum alloy frame and also features comfortable silicone grips and a compact handlebar. Xiaomi has made the handlebars of its fourth series scooters more user-friendly—the handlebars are not overloaded with various functions, and the grips do not become slippery when wet. The brushless BLDC electric motor has a nominal power of 600W. The motor provides brisk acceleration and enables the scooter to reach a top speed of 25 km/h, as per Estonian traffic regulations, even when ascending a 14% grade. According to the manufacturer’s specifications, a fully charged battery can travel 20 km in ECO mode. Our calculations find that with a realistic driving style (energy consumption of 15Wh/km), the scooter can cover approximately 12.5 km in standard driving mode.
The water resistance rating of the 4 Lite model is IPX5. The scooter can be configured between three different modes, offering a suitable gear for both pedestrian speeds and faster travel. The scooter is equipped with a 5.2Ah (187Wh) high-quality lithium-ion (Li-Ion) battery made from LG modules. Charging the battery from 0-100% takes about 4.5 hours.
For visibility during darker times and to make oneself visible to other road users, the scooter is equipped with both front and rear LED lights that, in addition to a bright beam, also have a reflective effect. To turn on the Xiaomi Electric Scooter 4 Lite, press the button located under the display/screen briefly, and to change the driving mode, press it twice quickly.
