The Xiaomi Electric Scooter 4 Ultra is the new flagship model in Xiaomi’s lineup of electric scooters and a direct successor to the earlier released Xiaomi Mi Scooter 4 Pro model. Like all Xiaomi electric scooters, this one also offers the best price-to-quality ratio among smaller and lighter class electric scooters compared to its competitors. This ensures that, like its predecessors, it will become one of the world’s best-selling electric scooters in time. What’s new with the Xiaomi Mi Scooter 4 Ultra compared to its predecessor, the 4 Pro model? Quite a lot, surprisingly! The Xiaomi 4 Ultra model has been upgraded with suspension, larger tires, and a bigger battery.
The most noticeable upgrade is that, unlike previous models, the Xiaomi 4 Ultra features both front and rear wheel suspension, providing a smooth and enjoyable ride. The Xiaomi 4 Ultra electric scooters are available in a modest, classic gray-black color scheme characteristic of Xiaomi. Another significant improvement is the use of two different types of brakes simultaneously. It features an electric E-ABS braking system on the rear wheel (motor) and a reliable drum brake on the front wheel for quick stopping. The scooter is configured so that pressing the brake lever applies both brakes, making braking much more effective and safer.
The Xiaomi Electric Scooter 4 Ultra has also been equipped with a new BMS (battery management system). It now includes even more safety features for protection: under-voltage protection, double overcharging protection, overheating protection, anti-discharge function, and short-circuit protection.
XIAOMI ELECTRIC SCOOTER 4 ULTRA – TECHNICAL DESCRIPTION
The new Xiaomi Electric Scooter 4 Ultra is a comfortable, extremely compact, and highly capable and durable electric scooter for everyday use. The Xiaomi 4 Ultra electric scooters are designed and manufactured in compliance with the latest EU regulations, allowing them to be sold and used in every member state. As such, the scooter is equipped with a license plate-ready rear fender and various features that ensure a safe ride.
The Xiaomi Mi Scooter 4 Ultra comes equipped with effective reflectors at the front and back. Additionally, Xiaomi electric scooters feature automatic regenerative braking (KERS) that works even when coasting – without pressing the brake lever. The intensity of the automatic motor braking can always be adjusted via the Xiaomi Mi app to suit individual riding styles.
The Xiaomi Electric Scooter 4 Ultra is equipped with an innovative E-ABS system that prevents the wheels from locking and skidding under electric braking, or, in the worst case, stopping so abruptly that the rider could be thrown off. This feature is particularly useful in Nordic countries, where the electric scooter is often used during the autumn and winter months.
The electric scooter weighs only 24.5kg, making it relatively easy to transport. Moreover, the 4 Ultra electric scooters have a very simple folding mechanism; when folded, the handlebar locks onto the standing board, ensuring the scooter does not unfold itself during transportation. Additionally, the Xiaomi 4 Ultra scooter features a modern-looking kickstand, eliminating the need to lean the scooter against a wall.
XIAOMI ELECTRIC SCOOTER 4 ULTRA – PERFORMANCE AND RANGE
The Xiaomi electric scooter is crafted with a sturdy aluminum alloy frame, and it also features comfortable silicone grips and a compact handlebar. Xiaomi has designed the handlebars of its fourth series scooters to be user-friendly—they are not overloaded with confusing buttons and levers. The brushless BLDC electric motor has a nominal power of 500W and a peak power of 940W. This motor provides brisk acceleration and allows the electric scooter to achieve a manufacturer speed of 25 km/h according to Estonian traffic laws, even when climbing a 25% incline. According to the manufacturer’s specifications, a fully charged battery can travel 70 km in ECO mode. Our calculations find that with a fully charged battery, the scooter can cover approximately 37.5 km in standard driving mode (assuming an energy consumption of 15Wh/km).
The water resistance level of the 4 Ultra model is IPX5. The electric scooter can be configured between three different modes, providing a suitable gear for both pedestrian speed and faster travel. The electric scooter is equipped with a 12Ah (561.5Wh) high-quality lithium-ion (Li-Ion) battery made from LG modules. Charging the battery from 0-100% takes about 6.5 hours.
For visibility during darker times and to make oneself visible to other road users, the scooter is equipped with both front and rear LED lights, which, in addition to a powerful beam, also have a reflective effect. To turn on the Xiaomi Electric Scooter 4 Ultra, press the button located under the display/screen briefly, and to change the driving mode, press it twice quickly.
