XIAOMI ELECTRICSCOOTER
XIAOMI HISTORY AND INTRODUCTION
Xiaomi Mijia (Mi) is a Chinese technology company founded in 2010 by computer scientist Lei Jun in Beijing, China. Today, the Xiaomi brand is known worldwide and the brand’s product portfolio has grown rapidly every year. The vision was simple: to develop innovative new smartphones, laptops and a range of devices that were affordable and useful for consumers. After a long development process, Xiaomi Mi came up with something different in 2017. The new Xiaomi M365 electric scooter was a real breakthrough in 2017 and set the cornerstone for electric scooters. Today, Xiaomi’s electric scooters are so popular that they can be found in both urban and rural areas, with riders of all ages. In June 2022, Xiaomi launched its flagship Xiaomi Electric Scooter 4 Pro. While the Xiaomi M365 electric scooter set the cornerstone, the Xiaomi Electric Scooter 4 Pro electric scooters reflected in every way where Xiaomi Mi had come with its determined and dedicated development work.
Xiaomi Mi produces durable, powerful and affordable electric scooters for everyday users. Xiaomi Mi is particularly committed to creating compact, durable and user-friendly electric scooters. They have also placed emphasis on ensuring that their electric products offer everything that the average consumer could want from an electric scooter.
Thanks to its huge popularity, there are many enthusiasts and companies worldwide that produce various accessories and parts for Xiaomi electric scooters. In Estonia, Tõuksimaailm is the largest company dealing with Xiaomi electric scooters, their parts and accessories.
Mi Electric Scooter 4 Pro
Electric Scooter 4 Pro electric scooters are currently Xiaomi’s most advanced and powerful electric scooters. The Electric Scooter 4 Pro clearly demonstrates what electric scooters under €1000 can do. The Electric Scooter Pro 4 electric scooter is the successor to one of the most popular electric scooter models, the Pro 2, and improves on the last technical shortcomings of its already high-quality and durable predecessor.
Mijia electric scooters are best known for their thoughtful design, performance and affordable price. Reflecting Mijia’s determination and continuous development, the Electric Scooter 4 Pro was designed to be even more user-friendly and comfortable.
The iconic Mijia electric scooter black and red colour combination has been retained on the Electric Scooter 4 Pro electric scooter, but the Electric Scooter 4 Pro electric scooter features new and improved 8.5″ DuraGel spike-resistant pneumatic tyres, a magnetic battery charger and a significantly more streamlined electric scooter construction. The predecessors had a problematic charging port rubber guard that didn’t want to stick well. After a long period of trial and error, a self-closing charging port rubber guard was developed and the Electric Scooter 4 Pro electric scooters are among the first to feature it.
The Electric Scooter 4 Pro also has an improved brake caliper compared to its predecessors. Instead of a single brake pad, the brake caliper/brake wire now moves two brake pads, which ensures an even safer and shorter braking distance. The brake pads also wear more evenly, making brake adjustment easier and less worrying.
There are no significant changes in terms of capacity as it is exactly the same as its predecessor, the Pro 2 electric scooter, with a 12.4Ah Li-ion battery pack. However, Mijia invested a bit more in the new electric scooter, which is why the Electric Scooter 4 Pro has 100W more power, making the 4 Pro’s own 700W maximum power output a tad brighter and more accelerated.
However, compared to its predecessor, the Electric Scooter 4 Pro is slightly heavier at 17kg.

Xiaomi Pro 2
Mi Pro 2 is by far the most popular electric scooter worldwide. Thanks to its sturdy construction and its relatively high bar height, this electric scooter is widely used by young people and adults.
Launched in 2020, the Mi Pro 2 was a leap forward from its predecessor, the Mi M365 electric scooter, with an even more powerful pre-motor and a more advanced design. The most significant change was that Mijia noticed from user feedback that the rear fender on their previous model tended to break easily. Therefore, they developed a special fender support that was now always attached when leaving the factory.
With a maximum power of 600W, the Mijia Pro 2 electric scooter has a fairly nimble launch and can reach a top speed of 25km/h with relative ease. Just like the new Mi Electric Scooter 4 Pro, the Pro 2 comes with a 12.4Ah Li-ion battery pack. According to the factory specification, the Mi Pro 2 electric scooter is capable of covering up to 45km on a single charge in ideal conditions.
The Mi Pro 2 electric scooter was probably the most popular because of its capacity and compactness. With its quick-folding and adjustable lever mechanism, the Mi Pro 2 became the ideal choice for anyone looking for an affordable and lightweight (14.2kg) urban scooter.
Like all other Mijia electric scooters, the Mi Pro 2 is safe to use. That’s because, in addition to high-quality mechanical disc brakes, all Xiaomi electric scooters are equipped with E-ABS braking system, which prevents the electric motor from suddenly locking up and sliding out of the way when braking with an electric motor. The E-ABS braking system is particularly useful in the Nordic countries, where electric brakes are also used in autumn and winter and where the ground is covered with slippery leaves and ice.

Xiaomi 1S
Mijia 1S electric scooters are among the top three Xiaomi scooters in terms of performance. Compared to other Xiaomi models, the Mi 1S comes in an all-over matte black colour, with the red colour only found on the charging port cover. The Mi 1S has a shorter range and slightly lower motor power compared to the more powerful Pro 2 and 4 Pro electric scooters, but is still much more affordable. Despite taking last place in the top three for its performance, the Mi 1S is still the popular successor to the Pro 2.
The Mijia 1S electric scooter has everything you need. And the Mijia 1S can offer almost the same brisk acceleration and a slightly shorter travel distance, with a much lighter weight (12.5kg).
Like all other Xiaomi electric scooters, the Mi 1S electric scooter is IP54 rated.
The Mi 1S probably gained popularity not only for its affordable price, but also for its fast charging time. The 275Wh Li-Ion battery pack takes just 5.5h to fully charge, which is why the Mi 1S electric scooter with such a large battery pack was perfectly adequate because the missing part can be quickly recharged. According to the factory specification, Mi 1S electric scooters are capable of covering up to 30km in ideal conditions.
Compared to its predecessor, the M365 electric scooter, the Mi 1S electric scooter is equipped with real reflectors instead of reflective stickers and, in line with tightened European Union legalization, the Mi 1S electric scooter also has a number plate base attached to the mudguard.
Like all other Xiaomi scooters, the Mijia 1S scooter is Bluetooth compatible, allowing you to lock the scooter electronically, change various settings and also get up-to-date information.
Compared to Pro 2 scooters, Mi 1S scooters have a lower profile, which is why Mi 1S scooters are mainly used by young people.

Mi Electric scooter 3
The Mi Electric Scooter 3 electric scooters were launched in 2021 and were the first Xiaomi electric scooters available in two different colours. The Mi Electric Scooter 3 electric scooter is not available in the classic black and red colour combination, but in black and blue or white and orange. The Mi Electric Scooter 3 is an intermediate model between the Pro 2 and 1S electric scooters.
Mi Electric Scooter 3 electric scooters also feature a slightly improved battery management system (BMS). The Mi Electric Scooter 3 electric scooter was also one of the first Xiaomi electric scooters to introduce a new dual-piston brake caliper. As with the Mi Electric Scooter 4 Pro, the brake pads on the Mi Electric Scooter 3 therefore wear out more evenly, and the scooter also has better brake feel.
In terms of performance, the Mi Electric Scooter 3 electric scooters did not take the top spot and remained rather an intermediate model. However, the Mi Electric Scooter 3 electric scooters were equipped with a powerful 600W maximum power pre-motor. To compete with the older model, the Mijia 1S electric scooter, the Mi Electric Scooter 3 electric scooter also received a 275Wh Li-ion battery pack. The Electric Scooter 3 is also capable of going up to 30km in ideal conditions with a rather large Li-ion battery pack. Charging times are also exactly the same for the 1S and the Electric Scooter 3, at 5.5h. It’s also worth mentioning that all Xiaomi electric scooters (except Essential and M365) are equipped with Li-Ion battery packs made from high quality and durable LG battery modules.
Like all other Xiaomi electric scooters, the Mi Electric Scooter 3 electric scooters are equipped with a powerful LED headlight that illuminates the road far and wide with its shield-shaped beam. To ensure that the electric scooter and the rider are visible from a distance to fellow road users, all Xiaomi electric scooters are equipped with rear brake and parking lights.

Mi Electric Scooter 3 Lite
The Mi Electric Scooter 3 Lite is a more advanced version of the older Essential electric scooter. The main difference is that the Essential electric scooter was capable of a top speed of 20km/h, while the new Mi Electric Scooter 3 Lite electric scooter shifts this speed up by 5 units. In addition, the Mi Electric Scooter 3 Lite electric scooter, unlike the Essential electric scooter, has a rear drum brake. This is why the Mi Electric Scooter 3 Lite is particularly suitable for young people, who occasionally fall off the scooter and can damage the brake chain.
The Mi Electric Scooter 3 Lite doesn’t stand out the most for its performance, but it’s designed with younger riders in mind. Despite this, the Mi Electric Scooter 3 Lite electric scooters are sturdily built and powerful enough to carry up to 100kg.
The Mi Electric Scooter 3 Lite electric scooters are gaining momentum with children just starting or entering school because of their lightweight design and practicality. The Mi Electric Scooter 3 Lite electric scooters also feature an advanced folding mechanism, which means that even the youngest children can fold the scooter without much effort. You don’t have to worry so much about lifting the scooter either, as the Mi Electric Scooter 3 Lite is extremely lightweight, weighing just 13kg.
Despite its less-than-stellar performance, the Mi Electric Scooter 3 Lite is still highly practical, with enough range to get home from school and cruise around. The battery has a capacity of 183.6Wh, which should last up to 20km in ideal conditions, according to the manufacturer’s specification. Compared to other Xiaomi electric scooters, the Mi Electric Scooter 3 Lite takes the least time to fully charge the battery, at just 4.5h. It’s the fast charging that makes the Mi Electric Scooter 3 Lite very practical if planned well, and the perfect mobility tool for getting from school to home, the shop or the gym.

Xiaomi Essential
Mijia Essential electric scooters are the lightest among Mi’s electric scooters and also have the lowest bar height. That’s why Essential electric scooters are very popular with schoolchildren.
Essential electric scooters are very practical despite their less than practical features. With their quick-folding handlebars and light weight, the Essential electric scooters help many school children get home from school or to the gym quickly and comfortably. However, all the good safety features are retained in the Mi Essential. A safe ride is ensured by a rear disc brake and a front regenerative electric motor brake, the intensity of which can be easily adjusted via the mobile app.
With a 183Wh Li-ion battery pack, the Mi Essential electric scooter is capable of travelling up to 20km in ideal conditions, according to the manufacturer’s specification. The electric scooter needs just 3.5h to charge from 0-100%, which makes the Essential electric scooter very practical.
The main difference is that Essential electricscooters have a top speed of 20km/h. In addition, the Essential electric scooter, like all other Mi electric scooters, has three electronic gears/ride modes. This makes the Essential electric scooters well suited for younger riders who are still learning to ride an electric scooter.
The biggest improvement is that the often troublesome vibration/shock-inducing backboard is now a proper metal alloy support.
